Madonna performs Thursday night in Tel Aviv, Israel.
By Rolling Stone
Madonna?kicked off her 'MDNA' tour Thursday in Tel Aviv, bringing some dark, occult imagery and plenty of eye-popping outfits for the first show. But despite the intense look and feel of the stage, Madonna took the opportunity to address the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and make a plea for peace.
"I chose to start my world tour in Israel for a very specific and important reason," said Madonna. "As you know, the Middle East and all the conflicts that occur here and that have been occurring for thousands of years, they have to stop... ?You can't be a fan of mine and not want peace in the world."
"We are all sons and daughters of the universe and we are all human beings," she added. "And whether we are Muslim, Jew, Christian, Buddhist, atheist, gay, straight, black, white, Asian... we are all human beings. We all bleed the same color. We all want to love and be loved."
Madonna will continue the tour in Abu Dhabi on June 3rd and 4th.
